Audiences and Institutions

[BAUER+MEDIA.JPG]
Bauer
Baur Media Mainly produce mainstream magazines such as Grazia, Heat and FHM which are extremely popular. They also produce a few niche magazines mainly targeted at men such as Motorcycle Newsand Classic Cars. The main theme for the best part of the magazines is entertainment, most of their magazines seem to instead of informing the public of particular hobbies such as niche magazines they tend to inform the public of things such as gossip and fashion. Their Target Audience are mainly young men and women aged between 18 and 30 and interested Celebrities. They do not produce any childrens magazines and most of their magazines are niche. Bauer's mainfocus is magazines but it is also famous for hit television channels such as Kerrang and Q, these channels concentrate on the same type of music that their magazine concetrates on. They seem to have an Adult Brand Image.

BBC magazines

BBC magazines  specialise in Niche magazines such as 'Easy Cook' and  'Gardens Illustrated' they have a very broad target audience including Pre School, Pre Teen , Teen and Adult. Their largest categories seem to be adult and Preschool these categories have the most magazines. Most of the magazines are quite formal and for people who are seriously interested in what the magazine is talking about, the magazines seem to be very informitive and educational. BBC has Multi Media Ownership as well as producing magazines, it has radio and television. Seeing as most of their magazines are for children I think their Brand Image is Kids.

IPC Media

IPC Media only produces magazies, they produce mostly niche magazines such as 'TV Times' and 'Country Life' and many more. Their Target Audience seem to be mainly made up of young adults or older.Their Brand image seems to be adults with particular hobbies or interests. I don't think IPC have Multi Media ownership but their best selling music magazine ' NME' has a hit tv and radio channel. Their Primary target audience seem to be Women as most of their magazines are gossip, fashion or lifestyle magazines such as 'look' and 'Beautiful Kitchens'. They do not have any magazines for children or teenagers and very few of their Target Audience is made up of men.

[DEVELOPMENT+HELL.JPG]
Development Hell
Development Hell is a much smaller company than the others three. It only produces 2 niche magazines The Word and Mixmag they are both monthly magazines. The Word seems to have quite a formal feel and seems to cater to educated older adults. Similarly Mixmag
seems to have quite a formal feel and cater to older audience but the magazine but it's main focus is music. Both magazines seem to have a very formal and Adult Brand Image.
The magazine only seems to have one other Multi Media Ownership which is one successful website.

 [FUTURE.JPG]
Future Publishing
Future is the Largest Publisher of Guitar magazines in the world. It produces of 150 very succesful niche magazines such as 'Rhythm' and 'Guitar Techniques'. It is a special interest media group so most of the mgazines are based on guitars or music. All of the magazines are niche because they all share the same main focus which is music. It has Mulit Media Ownership of succesful websites. Future is also the UK's leading film magazine publisher. The music Target Audience seems to be Adults who are either want to leanr how to play the guitar or who already play a guitar. The most popular magaziens they have are 'Ninetendo' and 'Xbox 360' which are well known because they are based on the popular consoles. All the magazine have one primary focus which is guitars and this may attract advertisers because companies thatare selling Guitars or Guitar accessories know for sure they will reach their tagetaudeince because their target audience companies target audience is the same as the magazines
